Watch from the outdoor fireplace or from Loggers Lookout, then come back in to the wood fires. Kristy's tip: torches off, and give your eyes twenty minutes to adjust. The sky keeps improving the longer you stand under it.

How to book

Valid for direct bookings of two or more consecutive nights, for stays completed by 30 September 2026. One stargazing set-up per stay. Clear skies not guaranteed (this is stargazing, after all). Can be combined with the Stay 3, Pay 2 Winter Special during August.

Two midweek nights at The Ridge House, paired with a four-course dinner for two at award winning regional restaurant Messmates Dining. Add it to your stay at checkout for only $100.
Dinner is reserved by your host Kristy on your behalf. All you need to do is let her know which evening suits.

Select your midweek dates, then add the Stay & Dine package at checkout. Kristy will be in touch to confirm your dinner reservation once your booking is received.

Valid for two guests checking in Monday to Wednesday. Dinner is available Tuesday to Thursday only. Available for stays between 1 June and 31 August 2026. Total package price $950 excluding hotel tax. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Subject to availability.
August at The Ridge House is a proper winter. Two wood fires indoors for board games and cracking open a bottle of local red. One outdoor fire for marshmallows and stargazing. Mist through the fern gullies, and 90 minutes between you and the grey skies of Melbourne.

Let me know which end you'd like to extend: arrive Thursday evening and check out Sunday, or arrive Friday and stay through to Monday. I'll lock it in.
The Ridge House sleeps up to eight and genuinely welcomes dogs, so whether it's a long weekend for two (and a Labrador), or a winter escape with friends, August is the right time to do it.
